The Phoenix Team

Course & Obstacle Designer - Jason Phy

As a master carpenter, building obstacles comes natural to Jason. He has competed in over 150 races across the US and combines his knowledge of OCR, fitness and carpentry to bring an awesome course.
"I want our races to have an element of surprise, that oh $hi+ moment where you are not even sure how to tackle the obstacle." - Phy comments with laughter.

Jason is a father and woodworking craftsman.  He enjoys video games, his dog and the outdoors when he is not on the course.
His obstacle layout is always well thought through to bring the right amount of difficulty and uniqueness to his signature courses.

Race Director - Julie Wolff

Julie is a mom and marketing professional. She fell in love with all things OCR after her first race in 2016. She co-founded OCRaddix and continues to be an active part of the team.

"My goal as a race director is to host phenomenal events that provide a fun atmosphere, innovative course and challenge all fitness levels, to make an economic impact on communities and have the best finisher swag in the sport. The Phoenix Race is very symbolic of what we have been through in the last couple of years and we will continue to rise in 2022 to be a brand that racers will be eager to get to." Said Wolff.

Outside of OCR, Julie enjoys the outdoors, kayaking, traveling racing and graphic design.

ALIYAH EMAS - Team Captain

Aliyah Emas is a small business owner (League of Xtraordinary Fitness) and certified personal trainer with a Masters in Exercise and Sports Sciences. She has worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years and holds specializations in sports psychology, corrective exercise, senior fitness, women fitness, and performance enhancement. Before jumping head first into OCR in 2018, some of her athletic endeavors included softball, rowing, CrossFit, bodybuilding, strongman, and various road races. Not one to shy away from a challenge, she competes in anything that tickles her fancy and that looks excessively physically demanding... all while sporting her hoop earrings and perfectly poofed hair. Aliyah is excited to be part of the Phoenix OCR Pro Team, where she can help inspire others to dream big and conquer the unimaginable.

CHRIS HOOVER

Chris is an active duty Marine, lawyer, and father of 3!
He comes from a marathon running background and is fairly new to OCR, running his first OCR in 2018.  But don’t let this newcomer fool you, he has learned quickly and has become a competitive obstacle course racer in a short period of time having competed in race distances from 5k to 50k and everything in between!
Chris has served for over 25 years as a Marine, deploying all over the world.  He currently splits his time between Albany, GA and Jax, FL.
Chris is excited to be a part of the Phoenix OCR Pro Team and helping other racers reach their full potential!

ZACH PHILLIPS

Zach
began racing in 2015 with a Spartan Super and since then he has ran over 15 Spartans. He has ran everything from sprints to stadiums to ultras. Not only experienced with Spartans, Zach loves racing all different types of obstacle course races.
Zach trains by running trails throughout the week and taking classes at Our House Studios. He focuses on lifting heavy through CrossFit style workouts and short, fast paced runs a few times a week. He uses the Strava app to track his runs.
Outside of racing, Zach loves sports, being outside, and traveling. His future goals include getting the podium for 1st place in his age group and place well in a Spartan elite race. Coming soon, Zach is ready to get a Spartan Trail Race marked off of his list, along with earning his triple trifecta in 2019.

Cait Hogan

Cait is setting the pace. With numerous
Trifectas, a couple of ultras and even a
a stack of top 3 finisher podiums, Cait has massive ability in the sport.
She has participated in hundreds of races from coast to coast. Originally from New Jersey, Cait now calls Tennessee her home.
Cait enjoys the outdoors, her animals and training.
We love watching you soar!

Heather Cox has been racing OCR since 2012, her first race run with her roller derby teammates.  She hung up her skates and took her hot shorts to the mud.
Heather got to run races now just a memory, including Super Hero Scramble, Atlas Race, Battlegrounds, Shale Hill, and Battlefrog.   The “race and roll” was her forte.  If asked she would tell you she never met a road trip she didn’t like.
Along with her love of mud is body building. She competed for 3 years (2017-2019), earning her Pro card through OCB and winning 2 Pro shows.
But the enticing song of the mud lured her fully back into the mud in 2021.
Heather showed up and fell in love with Phoenix Race and the people who are a part of it.
She believes strong is the new sexy and she is looking forward to seeing new faces on the course and the challenges this new year brings.
